Fred the Godson (@fredthegodson) blew up Funk Flex’s show on Hot 97 back in September. He turned a freestyle into something he could lay down on his album. I’ve never heard of him before, but he has a lot of creative puns and throwback references. Give it a listen and let me know what you think!
On October 4, 2017, Cassie blessed the Headliner Music Club members with the debut of her new projects. She spent time talking with everyone there and gave us an exclusive premiere of her latest project which was a short film titled Love A Loser, which starred herself and G-Easy.
I could not have described it better…
Over 150 songs from more than 100 artists representing 40 years of hip hop all crammed into 4 minutes. It’s not a chronological history of hip hop. It’s rappers from different eras finishing each other’s rhymes over intersecting beats, all woven together to make one song.
I’ve been subscribed to and occasionally see a post on my feed from “Team Backpack.” They have some dope content and I like what they are doing for the culture (at least on the surface). I think frameworks like this are crucial for the survival of Hip-Hop since commercial tv/radio seem to stick to the same ol’ story lines and stereotypes. We need platforms to advance the culture.
Most intellectual rap is ignored by the younger generations because they are saturated with a barrage of marketing campaigns and stereotypes...
The new craze in Japan, if you haven’t heard, is a virtual pop star named Hatsune Miku. It is pretty nuts how a 3D-projection had a hugely successful concert tour and also topped the japanese music charts.
Wow. I remember seeing Brian Green at alot of the record label industry parties. I always knew he rapped, but never had an interest in hearing his album. A friend recently posted this link and I checked it out… hessitantly. I was amazed at this song. Very Pharcyde like and actually pretty good. I migh peep his other stuff, who knows.
I think Cee-lo is one of those “slept on” artists on the West Coast. I loved him in the Goodie Mob and his album Cee-Lo Green the Soul Machine was an awesome album, but maybe now people will pay more attention. His new Song is genius, check it out and let me know what you think… i think this will be the sing along for 2010!
5x DMC World Champion DJ Craze takes things to the next level in this new turntablism routine, using Traktor Scratch Pro and the Kontrol X1 controller. Using the X1, Craze simultaneously triggers cue points on both decks, while still staying true to his roots with some serious beatjuggling.
By combining traditional vinyl techniques like juggling, scratching and body tricks with advanced controller-based functions such as cue point manipulation, tempo-synced effects and ultra-quick track changes, this performance showcases the cutting edge of turntablism and controllerism using the latest digit...
Grammy-winning rapper Eminem‘s Recovery will reportedly sell up to 615,000 copies in its first-week on store shelves.
Based on one-day estimates, Em will easily go gold after his first seven days.
Offering conclusive proof that Marshall still matters, Eminem’s aptly named Recovery will score the year’s highest sales debut. Look for a total of between 590-615k for the Shady/Aftermath/Interscope album, easily beating Sade‘s 503k back in February. It could also beat his last album, Relapse, which sold 608k in its first week in May ’09. (Hits Daily Double)
It doesn’t get much bigger than this boys and girls. Vice and D-Nice creating new concoctions from their favorite drink Hennessy Black. Balllaaaaa!!!
